A visitor is anyone who doesn’t live full-time in Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort, or Savannah.
If you already row and you're on the island for a few days — or a few months — you're welcome to join us on Broad Creek. Palmetto Rowing Club keeps a fleet of single sculls, from trainers to race-quality boats, and visiting rowers are welcome to use them.
Your first row of the week is on us. After that, we simply ask for a donation to help maintain the boats and boathouse.

How guest rowing works
We row on Broad Creek beneath the Old Oyster Factory at 101 Marshland Road. Because we're a member-run club — not a commercial livery — guest rowing is arranged directly with us rather than booked online.
Reach out before your trip and we'll match you with a boat, share launch times, and cover a few local specifics: Hilton Head's tides, weather, the oyster-shell shoreline, and the wildlife you'll likely share the water with — dolphins, herons, pelicans, and the occasional bald eagle.
We just ask that you have prior sculling experience and are comfortable rowing a single, since guest rows aren't coached lessons. (New to rowing? That's what our free first lesson is for — head to Learn to Row.)

Our boathouse is underneath the Old Oyster Factory restaurant at 101 Marshland Road, Hilton Head Island, SC.

You will be rowing on Broad Creek. While they are tidal waters, the water is typically smooth and safe, just a little more difficult against the tide than with it.
-
The Palmetto Rowing Club does not allow rowers to row alone. We will arrange rowing with other rowers for you.
