Tread water and swim a short distance.    Every participant must successfully pass a swim test when you join the club. The test may be administered by any certified lifeguard, at any pool.  The Hilton Head Island Rec Center can administer this test. The signed certificate must be presented to your instructor.
Turn your neck easily from side to side.  Rowing backwards requires turning your neck frequently to view where you are going.
Not exceed the weight/size restrictions of our boats.
Lift one-half of a single boat.  You will row alone in your boat but you sign up with a “buddy” for protection while on the water and to help carry each other’s 40-50 lb boat to and from the boathouse.
